G·Loomis Spin Jig Rods are a series of fast-action rods designed to give warmwater spin fishermen the enhanced power and performance of a casting rod. Built with light tips that quickly taper to beefy, magnum butt sections, these rods were originally developed for fishing jigs, namely, 1/8 and 1/4 ounce grubs for smallmouth bass. Since then, they've been discovered by walleye anglers for vertical jigging applications as well as fishing grubs and light bottom-bouncing rigs. While many of the Spin Jig Rods are similar to our casting models in both action and power, they're rated for slightly lighter line. That's because spinning reels traditionally don't handle heavier line as well as casting reels, and in most cases "heavy" line (15-pound test or higher) drastically reduces casting distance, even with oversized guides. The Spin Jigs come in a wide range of power and line ratings. They're powerful, efficient tools capable of handling a variety of lure sizes, and many are suitable for light saltwater use as snook and redfish rods.
